Honor was originally established as a sub-brand of the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei. It was created to target the younger consumer segment and the budget to mid-range online market, allowing it to compete effectively against other internet-first brands. The brand became widely known for offering high-specification hardware at competitive price points.
In November 2020, due to severe pressure from United States trade restrictions placed on Huawei, the brand was sold to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co., Ltd. This move was intended to ensure the brand's survival by decoupling it from Huawei's supply chain issues, particularly regarding access to Google Mobile Services and modern semiconductor components. Since the divestment, Honor has operated as a fully independent entity.
Today, Honor is headquartered in Shenzhen, China. While the majority of its research, development, and manufacturing takes place within China, the brand has a significant global footprint, selling products across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. It continues to focus on innovative mobile technology, including foldable phones and AI-integrated software ecosystems.
