Remedy Kombucha was founded in 2012 by Sarah and Emmet Condon in Melborne, Australia. The brand was birthed from the couple’s passion for fermented foods and their desire to provide a healthy, sugar-free alternative to traditional fizzy soft drinks. They started by brewing small batches on their kitchen counter, and the brand has since grown into a global leader in the fermented beverage category.
While the brand originated in Australia, Remedy has expanded its manufacturing capabilities to meet international demand. In the UK, Remedy drinks are produced locally to ensure freshness and reduce environmental impact. The product is famous for using a traditional long-age brew process that allows all the sugar to be fermented out, resulting in a live cultured drink that is naturally sugar-free.
Remedy is an independent company, though it has received significant investment to power its international expansion. In 2021, Lion (a subsidiary of the Japanese beverage giant Kirin Holdings Company, Limited) formed a partnership and venture investment in the brand. Today, Remedy Drinks continues to operate as an independent entity led by its founding vision, headquartered in Australia and serving markets across Europe, Asia, and North America.
