Liga is a historic biscuit brand that has been a staple in European households, particularly in the Netherlands and Belgium, for nearly a century. Originally founded in 1923, the brand gained fame for its nutritious wheat biscuits often given to children as healthy snacks. Its legacy began through a collaboration of various bakeries looking to create a standardized nutritional product.
Over the decades, the brand has transitioned through several major corporate owners. Originally part of the Dutch company Liga-fabrieken, it was later acquired by General Biscuits, which eventually became part of the Danone Group. In 2007, Danone sold its biscuit division to Mondelēz International (then Kraft Foods). Today, Liga continues to be produced under the Mondelēz umbrella, with primary manufacturing operations located in Herentals, Belgium, serving markets across Europe.
