While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in Italy, Bertolli olive oil is now produced using olives sourced from various Mediterranean regions, primarily Spain, Italy, and Greece, and is bottled in multiple locations to serve global markets. The brand underwent several corporate ownership changes, previously being part of Unilever's portfolio before being sold to the Spanish food giant Deoleo, S.A. As of the current period, Deoleo remains the ultimate owner, managing the brand from its headquarters in Spain while maintaining the classic Italian branding that made Bertolli a household name.
