Miele is a globally recognized German manufacturer of high-end domestic appliances and commercial equipment. Founded on July 1, 1899, in Herzebrock, Germany, by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann, the company began by producing cream separators and butter churns before pivoting to its now-famous washing machines and vacuum cleaners.

Historically, Miele has concentrated its manufacturing in Germany, with its headquarters and main production plant located in Gütersloh. However, to support global growth and optimize logistics, the brand has diversified its manufacturing footprint. Core appliances like washing machines and ovens are primarily made in Germany, but the company has expanded production for specific product lines: vacuum cleaners are manufactured in the Czech Republic and China, while cooktops and steam ovens are produced in Austria.

In a significant move to serve the North American market, Miele opened its first U.S. assembly plant in Opelika, Alabama, in late 2024, focusing on ovens and ranges. Additionally, a major restructuring announced in 2024 involves relocating the entirety of its washing machine production to a specialized factory in Poland by 2027. Despite this international expansion, the brand remains a family-owned entity, governed by the fourth generation of the founding Miele and Zinkann families, maintaining its iconic 'Immer Besser' (Forever Better) philosophy.
