Univé Insurance

Univé is a prominent Dutch cooperative insurance company that operates as a non-profit association, meaning its policyholders are also its members. The brand has deep historical roots dating back to 1794, when the oldest of its constituent mutuals was founded by Geert Reinders to protect farmers against cattle plague. The modern entity, Univé, was officially formed in 1991 through the merger of DLG (Assen) and NOVO (Zwolle), later joined by health insurer Ziekenfonds Noord-Holland Noord.

As a cooperative, Univé does not have external shareholders and focuses on returning value to its members through competitive premiums and profit-sharing. Its services are delivered through a unique multichannel network in the Netherlands, combining a strong digital presence with over 100 physical 'Univé shops' where customers can receive face-to-face advice. The organization is structured as a central association supporting approximately 26 autonomous regional cooperatives, ensuring a local focus while maintaining national scale.
