B & M, which stands for Burnham & Morrill, is an iconic American brand known for its traditional brick-oven baked beans. The brand was founded in 1867 by George Burnham and Charles S. Morrill in Portland, Maine. Originally focused on meat and vegetables, the company shifted its specialty to brick-oven baked beans, creating a distinct slow-cooked flavor that became a staple in New England and across the United States. Throughout its history, manufacturing was famously centered at the landmark Casco Bay factory in Portland.

In 2021, the brand's ownership transitioned to B&G Foods, Inc., which led to the closure of the historic Maine manufacturing site. Currently, B & M products are produced within B&G Foods' wider North American supply chain. This transition marked the end of a long era of production in Portland while preserving the brand's recipes and market presence under the umbrella of a major multi-brand food corporation headquartered in New Jersey.
