Since 2018, Snowy Hydro Limited has been a Government Business Enterprise (GBE) owned entirely by the Commonwealth of Australia. This ensures that the ultimate owner of Red Energy is the Australian Federal Government, maintaining the brand's position as a 100% Australian-owned energy provider.
