Lipton is one of the world's most recognizable tea brands, originally founded in Scotland by Sir Thomas Lipton in the late 19th century. Over the decades, it evolved from a local grocery business into a global beverage powerhouse. This specific bottled product is a Green Ice Tea with strawberry flavor, marketed for its lower sugar content.
The brand has a complex ownership history. Historically a core part of Unilever's portfolio, the majority of the Lipton tea business was spun off into a standalone company called Ekaterra in 2021, which was subsequently acquired by CVC Capital Partners. However, the ready-to-drink (RTD) bottled variants, like the one pictured, are managed through the Pepsi Lipton International joint venture between Unilever (now via CVC/Ekaterra) and PepsiCo. Manufacturing typically occurs in regional plants operated by PepsiCo bottlers to ensure fresh local supply across various markets.
