7-Eleven is the world's largest convenience store chain, originally founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1927. Initially starting as 'Tote'm Stores', the name was changed to 7-Eleven in 1946 to reflect the company's then-unprecedented operating hours (7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week). The brand is famous for its iconic products like the Slurpee and the Big Gulp.

While the brand has its roots in American retail history, its ownership shifted significantly in the late 20th century. After a period of financial restructuring, the Japanese partner and licensee, Ito-Yokado, took a controlling interest. This eventually led to the formation of Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd., which now serves as the global parent company based in Tokyo.

Today, 7-Eleven operates through a vast network of corporate-owned, franchised, and licensed stores in over 19 countries. Most of the fresh food and private label products found in their stores are manufactured or prepared by local suppliers and regional manufacturing centers to ensure freshness and cater to local culinary preferences.
