Itambé is a prominent Brazilian dairy brand founded in 1948 in the state of Minas Gerais. Originally established as a cooperative named CCPR (Cooperativa Central dos Produtores Rurais de Minas Gerais), it became one of the largest dairy producers in Brazil. The Nolac line represents the brand's commitment to the lactose-free market, offering options for consumers with dietary restrictions.
In terms of ownership, the brand's history has seen significant shifts. In 2017, the French dairy giant Lactalis acquired a significant stake in Itambé, and by 2019, Lactalis completed the acquisition, becoming the ultimate owner. Today, Itambé operates under the umbrella of Lactalis, the world's largest dairy products group, headquartered in France, while maintaining its strong local presence and production facilities throughout Brazil.
