Karlsberg Urpils is a signature German Pilsner known for its distinctively bitter and fresh taste profile. The brand originated in 1878 in Homburg, Saarland, when Christian Weber founded the brewery. It remains one of the largest independent breweries in Germany.
Today, the beer is primarily produced at the original site in Homburg. While the Karlsberg Group operates internationally (known as Karlsbräu outside of Germany to avoid confusion with the Danish Carlsberg), it remains a family-influenced enterprise under the ownership of the Weber family. The brand is celebrated for its regional heritage in the Saar-Lor-Lux region.
