Flora is a prominent brand of margarine and vegetable fat spreads that was originally developed in the 1960s by the Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever. It was created as a heart-healthy alternative to butter, focusing on high polyunsaturated fat content. Historically part of Unilever's food portfolio, the brand along with the rest of the spreads business was sold in 2018 to KKR, a global investment firm. This move led to the formation of Upfield, which is now the current manufacturer and ultimate owner of the brand. While the brand has British and Dutch roots, its products are manufactured in various facilities across Europe and other regions to serve local markets including the United Kingdom and Ireland.
