Historically an independent developer under the name DoubleGIS, the company's ownership shifted significantly in 2020. It was acquired by Sberbank, Russia's largest financial institution. This acquisition integrated 2GIS into the broader Sber ecosystem, facilitating its role as a core logistics and navigational infrastructure provider for both consumer and commercial use.
