Tim Tam is a world-renowned brand of chocolate biscuits famously produced by the Australian biscuit company Arnott’s. Originally launched in 1964, the product was named after the winning horse of the 1958 Kentucky Derby. It has since become a cultural icon in Australia, known for its unique layered composition of biscuit, cream filling, and chocolate coating.
The global footprint of Tim Tam shifted significantly in recent decades. After being owned by the American food giant Campbell Soup Company for many years, the brand was acquired by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) in 2019. Under the management of the KKR-owned Arnott's Group, production remains centered in Australia, specifically at major facilities in Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, though regional variations exist for international markets.
Today, Tim Tam remains a staple in the confectionery market, exported to dozens of countries across Asia, North America, and Europe. Its ownership by an American private equity firm has facilitated broader international distribution while maintaining its identity as a quintessential Australian snack.
