The product is produced entirely within Colombia to meet Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) standards. The National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia serves as the primary governing body, representing over 500,000 coffee farmers. While various global companies like Nestlé or Starbucks roast and package Colombian beans, the 'Juan Valdez' brand and the Colombian Coffee identity remain under the democratic ownership of the Colombian coffee farmers through the FNC.
