Príncipe is one of the most iconic biscuit brands in Europe, particularly famous for its 'Príncipe de Becelair' filling. Originally launched by the French biscuit company LU (Lefèvre-Utile) in the late 19th century, the brand has become a staple in Spanish and French households. The 'Mini Príncipe' variety offers the classic round sandwich biscuit with chocolate cream in a smaller, snackable format.
While LU originated in Nantes, France, the Príncipe brand developed a massive presence in Spain, with significant manufacturing based in Viana, Navarra. Today, the brand is owned by the American multinational Mondelēz International, which acquired the biscuit division of Groupe Danone (including LU) in 2007. The product continues to be a market leader in the sweet biscuit category across Southern Europe.
