Galaxy Store is a dedicated application marketplace designed specifically for Samsung electronics, including smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices. Originally launched as Samsung Apps in 2009, it was rebranded to Galaxy Apps in 2014 and eventually assumed its current name, Galaxy Store, in 2019 to better reflect the ecosystem of the Samsung Galaxy brand.
The platform serves as a curated alternative to the Google Play Store, offering exclusive themes, fonts, and mobile games optimized for Samsung hardware. It is the primary distribution channel for Samsung's proprietary software updates and specialized features like Good Lock and Samsung Health enhancements. While the software development and core infrastructure are rooted in South Korea, the service operates globally to support millions of devices worldwide.
Ownership of the Galaxy Store remains entirely with Samsung Electronics. As a core component of Samsung's digital services strategy, it allows the manufacturer to maintain a direct relationship with its users and offer localized content through regional subsidiaries. The store is managed by the Mobile eXperience (MX) division of Samsung, headquartered in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
