Griffin's is an iconic New Zealand brand with a heritage dating back to 1864 when John Griffin started a small factory in Nelson. The ChitChat range is one of their most popular biscuit lines, often compared to the Australian Tim Tam, consisting of chocolate-flavoured cream sandwiched between two chocolate biscuits and coated in chocolate.
While Griffin's began as a family-owned New Zealand business and remains a household name in the country, its ownership has transitioned through several international hands over the decades. After periods of ownership by Nabisco, Danone, and Pacific Equity Partners, the brand was acquired by Universal Robina Corporation. In 2021, the company was purchased by Inghams Group and later became part of the broader snack portfolio of the global investment firm KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) through its platform, Natural Choice Foods. Despite these global corporate movements, the products are still proudly manufactured in New Zealand at sites in Auckland.
