Blaupunkt is a historic German brand with a complex ownership and manufacturing structure. Originally founded in 1923 in Berlin as 'Ideal', it became a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH in 1933 and was famously known for its 'blue dot' quality seal, which eventually gave the brand its name. For decades, it was a premier manufacturer of car audio and electronics, producing primarily in Germany, but later expansion included facilities in Portugal, Malaysia, and Tunisia.

In the modern era, particularly after 2016, Blaupunkt transitioned from a traditional manufacturer into a managed brand identity. In mid-2023, the brand was acquired by Established. (Established Inc.), a US-based company that also manages other iconic heritage brands like RCA and Thomson. Today, the brand operates via a global network of over 50 licensing partners. Manufacturing is decentralized across various regions to serve local markets; for instance, televisions and audio equipment are heavily produced in India via partners like Super Plastronics (SPPL), while home appliances and e-bikes may be produced in Poland, China, Turkey, or even the United States.
