Sellpy was founded in 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden, by Michael Arnör, Oskar Nielsen, and Philip Fadai. The brand was established to make buying and selling second-hand items as easy as buying new, specifically focusing on the e-commerce experience for used clothing and accessories.
While Sellpy does not 'manufacture' goods in the traditional sense, its operations involve large-scale logistical processing. Items are sourced from private individuals across Europe. The operational workflow, including sorting, photography, and storage, primarily occurs in specialized warehouses located in Sweden, Poland, and Germany to serve the European market.
In 2015, H&M Group made its first investment in Sellpy. Over the following years, H&M significantly increased its stake, ultimately becoming the majority owner in 2019. Today, H&M Group holds the majority of shares, integrating Sellpy into its circular business strategy to promote sustainable fashion consumption worldwide.
