Príncipe is a renowned brand of chocolate-filled sandwich cookies with a rich history dating back to 1890 in Belgium. Originally created by the De Beukelaer family, the cookies were named in honor of the Prince of Belgium. They have since become an iconic snack across Europe, particularly in Spain and France.
Throughout the decades, the brand underwent various corporate transitions. It was formerly part of the LU (Lefèvre-Utile) portfolio under Groupe Danone. In 2007, the brand was acquired by Mondelēz International (formerly Kraft Foods). Today, Mondelēz operates a large-scale manufacturing facility in Viana, Spain, which is one of the primary production hubs for the brand, though it is also manufactured in other European locations to serve global markets.
