ICA Cashewnötter are a popular snack item produced and distributed by ICA, one of the leading grocery retailers in Scandinavia. The brand originated in Sweden under ICA AB, which was established through the cooperation of several individual retailers in 1938. As a private-label product, these roasted and salted cashews are sourced from various tropical regions worldwide where cashews are grown, such as Vietnam, India, or Ivory Coast, and are often processed and packaged within the EU to meet Swedish quality standards.
Today, the ICA brand is under the ultimate ownership of ICA Gruppen AB. Following a take-private transaction completed in 2022, the company is primarily owned by ICA-handlarnas Förbund (the Association of ICA Retailers) and AMF. The brand remains deeply rooted in Swedish retail culture, serving as the primary house brand for thousands of stores across Sweden and the Baltics.
