Gorenje is a major European manufacturer of household appliances, particularly known for its kitchen range including ovens, stovetops, and refrigerators. Founded in 1950, the brand originated in the village of Gorenje, Slovenia, which was then part of Yugoslavia. It initially produced agricultural machinery but quickly pivoted to home appliances, becoming one of the largest manufacturer in the region.
Over the decades, Gorenje expanded its global reach through design-led innovation and partnerships with famous designers. In 2018, the company underwent a significant ownership change when the Chinese conglomerate Hisense acquired a majority stake.
Today, while Gorenje keeps its historic manufacturing roots and research headquarters in Velenje, Slovenia, its operations are fully integrated into the global supply chain of the Hisense Group. This means production is distributed across several locations depending on the specific model, including modern facilities in Slovenia, Serbia, and Hisense's industrial parks in China.
