Frank's RedHot is a globally recognized hot sauce brand that rose to fame as the primary ingredient in the original Buffalo wing sauce, created in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. The sauce itself dates back to 1918, when Adam Estilette and Jacob Frank partnered in New Iberia, Louisiana, to create a spice-forward condiment using cayenne peppers.
The brand has undergone several ownership changes over the decades. It was part of the Durkee Famous Foods acquisition by Reckitt & Colman (later Reckitt Benckiser) before being sold in a massive multi-billion dollar deal to McCormick & Company in 2017. Today, it remains a cornerstone of McCormick’s consumer portfolio, marketed extensively for its versatility and signature heat.
Production is largely centered in Springfield, Missouri, though McCormick utilizes global supply chains for distribution. The brand remains an American cultural staple, synonymous with sports tailgating and traditional American pub cuisine.
