Café Fortaleza is a historic coffee brand that has been a staple in Spanish households for over a century. Founded in 1885 in Bilbao, it began as a specialized roasting house that focused on high-quality blends and traditional techniques. Over the decades, it expanded its footprint across northern Spain and eventually the entire country, becoming particularly well-known for its 'mezcla' (blend) varieties.

Today, the brand is owned by the Dutch coffee conglomerate JDE Peet's, following its acquisition of the Spanish company's parent ventures. While the ownership is international, the brand maintains its Spanish identity and significant manufacturing presence in Spain to serve the local market and export its Mediterranean-style roasts worldwide. The company continues to produce a wide range of products including whole beans, ground coffee, and modern espresso capsules.
