Fatboy is an iconic Dutch brand that gained international fame with its oversized bean bag chairs. The brand was originally created by Finnish designer Jukka Setälä in 1998, but it was Alex Bergman who brought the concept to life in the Netherlands in 2002, turning it into a global design phenomenon. The products are known for their high-quality materials, durability, and vibrant colors.
While the brand started with its signature bean bag, it has since expanded into a wide range of lifestyle products, including lighting, outdoor furniture, and hammocks. Ownership of the brand shifted in 2021 when the private equity firm Callivoir, supported by the Vendis Capital investment group, acquired the company to further its international expansion. Manufacturing remains centered around high standards of quality control, largely overseen from their headquarters in 's-Hertogenbosch.
