Medalla Light beer

Medalla Light is the flagship brand of Cervecera de Puerto Rico, originally founded in 1937 in Mayagüez. Since its introduction in 1979, the beer has become an iconic cultural symbol of Puerto Rico, known for its light profile and crisp taste. The name 'Medalla' was chosen to commemorate the Pan American Games held in San Juan in 1979.

While many global beer brands have been absorbed by massive multinational conglomerates, Medalla remains under the ownership of Cervecera de Puerto Rico (formerly known as Compañía Cervecera de Puerto Rico). The company is a family-owned enterprise, with the Valdés family maintaining control over its operations. It stands as one of the major independent breweries in the Caribbean, continuing to manufacture its products primarily at its historic facility in Mayagüez.
