Lyle's Golden Syrup is a quintessentially British product with a heritage dating back to 1881. It was first created by Abram Lyle at his sugar refinery in Plaistow, East London. The iconic green and gold tin, featuring the Biblical illustration of a lion and bees (a reference to 'Out of the strong came forth sweetness'), holds the Guinness World Record for the world's oldest unchanged brand packaging.

Historically, the brand was a cornerstone of the Tate & Lyle company for over a century. However, in 2010, the sugars and syrup business was sold to the American sugar refining giant, American Sugar Refining, Inc. (ASR Group). Despite the change in ownership, the syrup continues to be manufactured at the original site in Plaistow, London, maintaining its long-standing connection to the local area and traditional British baking.
