The Philips Grind & Brew is a popular domestic drip coffee maker known for its integrated burr grinder, allowing users to brew fresh coffee from whole beans. The Philips brand originated in the Netherlands in 1891, initially focusing on light bulbs before expanding into a global electronics powerhouse.
In a significant corporate shift in 2021, Royal Philips sold its Domestic Appliances division (which includes coffee makers, air fryers, and floor care) to Hillhouse Investment, a global private equity firm. This division now operates under the name Versuni. While the products continue to carry the 'Philips' brand name through a long-term licensing agreement, the ultimate corporate ownership and management are distinct from the medical technology-focused Royal Philips company. Manufacturing for these small appliances is primarily concentrated in China to ensure global distribution efficiency.
