Chobani Yogurt

Chobani is a leading brand in the dairy industry, credited with popularizing Greek-style yogurt in the United States. Founded by Hamdi Ulukaya, a Turkish immigrant, the company began its journey in 2005 when Ulukaya purchased a defunct Kraft Foods factory in South Berlin, New York. Since launching its first products in 2007, Chobani has grown from a small startup into a global food powerhouse known for its focus on natural ingredients and social responsibility.

The manufacturing process remains deeply rooted in the United States, with major production facilities located in New Berlin, New York, and Twin Falls, Idaho. To serve international markets, Chobani also operates a significant production hub in Australia. Ownership of Chobani remains largely private, with founder Hamdi Ulukaya serving as the majority owner and CEO. Despite numerous acquisition interests and investment from firms like TPG Capital and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) over the years, Chobani continues to operate as an independent entity headquartered in the United States.
