KiMs American Grill is a staple in the Danish snack market, known for its distinctive ridged texture and smoky seasoning. This iconic brand originated in Denmark in the 1960s, initially launched by the Odense-based chocolate manufacturer Odense Marcipanfabrik. The production has remained deeply rooted in Denmark, specifically at the factory in Søndersø on the island of Funen, where millions of bags are produced annually from primarily locally sourced potatoes.

Over the decades, the ownership of KiMs shifted as the snack market consolidated. Today, KiMs is the leading chips and snacks brand in Denmark and is owned by the Orkla Group, a major Norwegian conglomerate. Orkla acquired the brand through its purchase of the Chips Group in 2005. Under Orkla's stewardship, KiMs continues to maintain its local identity while benefiting from the extensive distribution network and resources of one of the largest consumer goods companies in the Nordic region.
