The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is a twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed to gain and maintain air supremacy in aerial combat. It was originally developed by McDonnell Douglas, an American aerospace manufacturer that was founded in Missouri in 1967. The aircraft represents one of the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat.
In 1997, McDonnell Douglas merged with The Boeing Company, which now serves as the ultimate owner of the brand and design. Boeing continues to manufacture, sustain, and upgrade the F-15 lineage, including the latest F-15EX Eagle II variant. While the primary manufacturing and assembly take place in St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States, various components may be sourced from a global supply chain, and international versions are occasionally produced through licensed partnerships or industrial offsets in countries like Japan (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries).
