Sky TV / Sky Broadcasting

Sky is a leading media and entertainment company that originated in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It was first launched in 1989 as Sky Television and later merged with British Satellite Broadcasting to form BSkyB. Over the decades, it expanded across Europe, establishing significant operations in Italy, Germany, and Austria.

While Sky is essentially a service provider rather than a manufactured physical product, the hardware it distributes—such as Sky Q boxes, Sky Glass televisions, and Sky Stream devices—is manufactured through various global electronics partners. These hardware components are primarily produced in manufacturing hubs across China and Southeast Asia before being distributed to consumers in Europe.

In 2018, Sky underwent a major ownership shift when it was acquired by the American telecommunications giant Comcast Corporation after a competitive bidding process. Today, Sky operates as a subsidiary of Comcast. The brand remains Europe's leading direct-to-consumer media business, providing satellite television, broadband, and mobile services to millions of subscribers while maintaining its headquarters at the Sky Studios hub in Osterley, London.
