Kettle Chips originated in Salem, Oregon, USA, in 1978, founded by Cameron Healy as the N.S. Khalsa Company. The brand pioneered the kettle-cooked method of potato chip production, which involves frying chips in batches rather than using a continuous conveyor belt, resulting in an extra-crunchy texture.
In the late 1980s, the brand expanded to the United Kingdom, where it established a significant manufacturing presence in Norwich. Over the decades, Kettle Foods has changed ownership several times, moving from private equity firms to Lion Capital and then to Snyder's-Lance in 2016.
Today, Kettle Foods is a subsidiary of Snyder's-Lance, which is itself owned by the Campbell Soup Company. Campbell's acquired Snyder's-Lance in 2018 to bolster its presence in the global snacking market. While the brand has American roots, the products sold in the UK market are primarily produced at their dedicated facility in Norfolk, England, maintaining a local supply chain for the British consumer base.
