Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu is a traditional German brewery located in the Black Forest town of Alpirsbach. Founded in 1877 by Johann Gottfried Glauner, the brewery has remained a family-owned enterprise for over four generations. This particular product, the 'Kloster Helles', is a classic pale lager brewed according to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot), utilizing soft spring water from the regional Black Forest nature park.
Ownership today remains with the Glauner family through the Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu Glauner GmbH & Co. KG. Unlike many popular German beer brands that have been acquired by international conglomerates, Alpirsbacher prides itself on its independence and regional identity. All production is centralized at their original historic location in Alpirsbach, ensuring quality control and adherence to traditional brewing methods.
