Hot Wheels is one of the world's most iconic toy brands, originally launched by Mattel in 1968 in the United States. Conceived by Elliot Handler, the brand was designed to be a more 'tricked-out' and faster alternative to the Matchbox cars of the era. While the brand was founded in the US, manufacturing was shifted to lower-cost international facilities early in its history.
