Henriques & Henriques is a prestigious producer of Madeira wine, a historical fortified wine from the Portuguese island of Madeira. Founded in 1850 by the Henriques family, the company has deep roots in the island's viticulture. Unlike many other producers, Henriques & Henriques has historically owned its own vineyards, which is rare in the Madeira wine trade where most grapes are sourced from small growers.
The production of this Madeira involves traditional methods, including fortifying the wine with grape spirit and aging it under specific temperature conditions. This particular 5-year-old Full Rich (Doce) variety is known for its intense concentration and sweetness. While the brand passed from the Henriques family to other owners in the mid-20th century, it remains a pillar of Portuguese wine heritage, produced and bottled locally in Câmara de Lobos, Madeira.
