Morphy Richards is a legacy British brand that has transitioned through significant corporate changes. Founded in 1936 by Donal Morphy and Charles Richards in St. Mary Cray, England, the company originally specialized in electric irons and heaters. Over the decades, it became a household name for kettles, toasters, and food processors in the United Kingdom.
In recent years, the brand's ownership has evolved to reflect the globalized nature of consumer electronics. While the brand remains deeply rooted in British design heritage, the majority of its manufacturing operations moved to Asia, particularly China, to leverage large-scale production efficiencies. In 2022, a major shift occurred when the Chinese home appliance giant Midea Group acquired the rights to the Morphy Richards brand in several regions through a strategic acquisition of the Morphy Richards consumer appliance division, though Glen Dimplex continues to operate the brand in certain European territories and India has its own licensed distribution through Bajaj Electricals.
