Le Rustique is a premium brand of French cheese, most famous for its Camembert. It was created in 1971 by Jean Verrier in the Normandy region of France, specifically from the Fromagerie de Pacé in Orne. The brand is instantly recognizable by its traditional wooden box packaging and red gingham (vichy) cloth.

Manufacturing remains centered in France, particularly in the Normandy and Lorraine regions, adhering to traditional cheesemaking methods. Today, the brand is owned by the Compagnie des Fromages et de la Richesse des Terres (CF&R), a major dairy company in France. CF&R itself is a joint venture between the French dairy giant Sodiaal and the Savencia Fromage & Dairy group. This ownership structure ensures that the brand maintains its traditional French heritage while benefiting from global distribution networks.
