Frisco is a renowned brand of ice cream and frozen desserts with a deep heritage in Swiss dairy craftsmanship. Founded in Switzerland in the mid-20th century, the brand has become synonymous with quality frozen snacks and family-sized tubs across Central Europe. Its manufacturing is primarily concentrated in Switzerland to maintain the high standards associated with Swiss dairy products, although some specialized lines may be produced in other European facilities depending on market demand.
Historically, Frisco was developed by Rorschach-based Frisco-Kuehl-Produkte AG. In 1966, the brand became a central part of a joint venture with Nestle, eventually leading to full ownership by the Swiss multinational. This integration allowed the brand to expand its reach and innovate with popular sub-brands such as Extrême and Cailler-branded ice creams.
In recent years, the ownership structure of Frisco has shifted to Froneri, a global joint venture created in 2016 between Nestlé and PAI Partners (owners of R&R Ice Cream). This strategic partnership specifically manages the ice cream portfolios of its parent companies, positioning Frisco as a key regional brand under a global leader in the frozen dessert industry. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Froneri continues to operate Frisco as a premium Swiss brand.
