Svijany Svijanský Máz beer

Svijany is one of the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic, tracing its history back to the year 1564 when the brewery was established in the village of Svijany. The brand is celebrated for its traditional brewing methods, which include using local ingredients such as soft water from their own wells, Saaz hops, and premium barley malt. Unlike many modern breweries, Svijany specializes in unpasteurized beers, which are known for their distinct taste and freshness.

Throughout the 20th century, the brewery faced the threat of closure, particularly after the fall of communism. However, it underwent a significant revival starting in 1998 under new private leadership. Today, it remains a proud representative of Czech brewing heritage and is strictly produced on its original site in Svijany, Northern Bohemia. Moving into the mid-2020s, the company continues to operate as an independent entity, avoiding the trend of acquisition by global beverage conglomerates like AB InBev or Heineken, which allows it to maintain its status as a 'family brewery.'
