While deeply rooted in Mexican culture, the brand is currently owned by the Dutch multinational Heineken N.V. following their acquisition of FEMSA's beer operations. For globalization purposes, Sol is brewed in multiple locations worldwide; while much of the supply still comes from Mexico (specifically Orizaba and Guadalajara), production for various international markets often occurs at regional Heineken breweries in Europe and South America. In the United States, the brand's marketing and distribution are handled via a partnership with Molson Coors, highlighting its complex international footprint.
