Cetaphil is a globally recognized skincare brand specifically formulated for sensitive skin. It was originally developed in 1947 by a pharmacist in San Antonio, Texas, under the company name Galderma (at the time a joint venture between Nestlé and L'Oréal). The brand is famous for its Gentle Skin Cleanser, which has remained a staple in dermatological care for decades.
Today, Cetaphil is owned by Galderma, which became an independent Swiss dermatology company in 2019 after being acquired by a consortium of institutional investors. While the brand has American roots, its manufacturing is distributed across several global facilities, including major sites in Canada, France, and Brazil, to serve various international markets.
