Didriksons is a legendary Swedish brand with a history dating back to 1913, when Julius and Hanna Didrikson began producing waterproof oilskin clothing for local fishermen in Grundsund. The brand's foundation was built on the necessity of protecting workers from the harsh, cold, and wet conditions of the North Sea. Over more than a century, Didriksons has evolved from a local family-run workwear provider into a leading international lifestyle brand specializing in high-performance parkas, rainwear, and functional outdoor apparel for men, women, and children.
While the brand maintains its creative and technical heart in Borås, Sweden—the country's historical textile center—its manufacturing is distributed globally. Most of its technical garments are produced in specialized factories across Asia, particularly in China and Vietnam, to leverage advanced technical textile capabilities. However, a small portion of their collection, such as certain knitted accessories, continues to be produced locally in Sweden through partnerships with historic manufacturers like Sätila of Sweden.
Ownership of Didriksons has transitioned through several hands to support its global growth. After being part of the New Wave Group in the late 1990s, it was bought by a private investment group and later acquired in 2018 by the Swedish investment firm Adelis Equity Partners. Under this ownership, the brand continues to emphasize its core values of functional Swedish design, durability, and a commitment to sustainable production practices.
