Marabou is one of Sweden’s most beloved chocolate brands, with a history dating back to 1916. It was founded by the Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst, who had previously succeeded with the Freia brand in Norway. The brand name 'Marabou' was chosen because 'Freia' was already registered in Sweden, and it refers to the marabou stork, which was the symbol used on their original logo.
Today, Marabout is part of the global snacks giant Mondelēz International. This specific product, the Crunchy Biscoff pieces bar, represents a collaboration between Marabou and the Belgian biscuit brand Lotus Biscoff. Most Marabou chocolate bars are produced at their historical factory in Upplands Väsby, just north of Stockholm, Sweden. Over the decades, Marabou has become an icon of Swedish culture, known for its taglines about the 'taste of Sweden' and its wide variety of innovative flavors combined with classic milk chocolate.
