Schumann Arzberg is a historic German porcelain brand with roots dating back to 1881. The brand was founded in Arzberg, Bavaria, and became renowned for its high-quality Bavarian porcelain, often featuring ‘Echt Cobalt’ (Real Cobalt) blue designs and intricate floral patterns.
Historically, the company operated as Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann G.m.b.H. & Co. K.G. However, following the collapse of the German porcelain industry in the late 20th century, the factory closed its doors in 1994. The trademark and brand name were eventually acquired by other entities. Today, the Schumann name is primarily associated with vintage collectibles and specific production lines managed under larger ceramic groups that maintain the heritage of the Arzberg region.
While the original Schumann factory no longer exists, items bearing this traditional backstamp are highly valued for their German craftsmanship and historical significance in European ceramics.
