Brahma is one of the most iconic beer brands in Brazil, originally founded in 1888 by the Swiss immigrant Joseph Villiger in Rio de Janeiro under the name Manufactura de Cerveja Brahma Villiger & Companhia.
Over the decades, through various mergers, it became part of Ambev (Companhia de Bebidas das Américas), which eventually merged with Interbrew to form InBev and finally acquired Anheuser-Busch to form AB InBev. Today, while it remains a cornerstone of Brazilian culture and is primarily brewed in multiple manufacturing facilities across Brazil, it is owned by the global beverage giant AB InBev, headquartered in Belgium.
