Evian is one of the most recognized luxury mineral water brands globally, originating from the Évian-les-Bains region on the south shore of Lake Geneva in France. The water is sourced from the Cachat Spring and underwent a natural filtration process through glacial sand layers in the French Alps.
Historically, the spring's qualities were discovered in 1789 by a French nobleman. The brand eventually became a commercial enterprise in the mid-19th century and underwent various ownership changes before being acquired by its current parent company. Today, Evian is bottled exclusively at a single source in France and exported to over 140 countries, maintaining a premium position in the global beverage market. It is owned by the French multinational food-products corporation Danone, which oversees its global distribution and sustainability initiatives.
