Cholula Hot Sauce is a world-renowned brand originally founded in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. The brand was named after the 2,500-year-old city of Cholula, the oldest inhabited city in Mexico. For three generations, it was produced by the Harrison family. The sauce is famous for its distinctive wooden cap and iconic flavor profile that blends piquín and arbol peppers with various spices.
In 2020, the spice giant McCormick & Company acquired Cholula for $800 million. Despite its global corporate ownership, Cholula continues to be manufactured in Mexico, maintaining its authentic roots and production methods. Today, it remains one of the most recognizable hot sauce brands globally, distributed across North America, Europe, and beyond.
